The Village GamesA fantastic time for both competitors and spectators was had as sunshine blessed the Annual Independent Living Sports Day.

Spectators avidly watched as the competition unfolded. Residents from Middleton Woods and The Waterside paired up to take part in a series of sporting challenges including bowls, boules, pitch & putt and putting on the nine-hole green. Due to the increasing popularity of the day, brand new trophies had been commissioned. As the final shots were played and final scores totted up, all eyes were on these as the winners were announced at a Pimms Reception in the Conservatory.

The Village GamesGreat applause rang out for a shocked looking Alan and Margaret Mackie who received the brand new “Champions” trophy as they were announced overall winners of the day. Other outstanding performances came from Audrey and Eddie Perry in the Bowls and Margaret Fulton and Les Simpson in the Boules. Congratulations and thanks to everyone who took part.
