Middleton Hall’s thriving Photography Group has launched a new exhibition ‘Around the Dales’. The theme celebrates the life and landscapes of the local dales, ‘from Weardale to Teesdale, Swaledale to Wensleydale’. 67 candid photographs depict the beautiful scenery, wildlife, buildings, bridges … and of course sheep!
The Photography Group, led by volunteer tutor Keith Rowland has relished the challenge of this project. Group members have spent many happy days travelling around our spectacular region, researching and considering local life. They have used various techniques and finishes throughout and enjoyed discussing the project with visiting guests at the launch. The many comments from visitors included the following;
“I thought Gayle Mill stood out amongst a first class exhibition”
“… interesting selection and nice memories thanks to splendid scenery and varied topics and treatment”
“Lovely collection of styles, compositions and creations”
The Photography Group began working together in 2013. This exhibition is the fourth, and follows the hugely successful ‘A Line Through Time’, which has displayed not only at Middleton Hall but on invitation at Locomotion (the National Railway Museum in Shildon) and the prestigious Cargo Fleet Gallery in Middlesbrough. The group would love to welcome more members. If any resident or member of staff would like to further their skills or take up photography as a new hobby please speak to Audra Hunt or a member of the group.
The exhibition will run until Saturday 4th June for residents, their visitors and staff to view. All photographs will be available to purchase.
