We sited an owl box in our woodlands for the local Tawny’s and for a couple of seasons the box had not been used.  Being the impatient human beings that we are a meeting was held to discuss the site and we came to the conclusion that the box was a bit low on the tree.

Ladders were almost at the ready when one of our residents reported that a pair of Tawny Owls had moved in!  They have successfully raised two chicks.

Meanwhile the moorhens have used the island in the middle of the pond for the third year running and have reared four chicks.
