Bowling Tournament

Following the success of the boules (or petanque) tournament earlier in the summer, the bowlers of the retirement village gathered for the first bowling tournament.

Middleton Hall benefits from having an all weather bowling surface, but on this occasion 16 people took part, on what turned out to be a glorious sunny day.

After some hotly contested early rounds, the two semi finals were fought out with some good quality competition.

The final proved to be a cliff hanger.  After five ends, the two pairs were tied , an extra end was added and Mr David Kelly and Mr Eddie Perry were finally defeated by Mrs Audrey Perry and Mrs Margaret Fulton.  Mrs Fulton is a novice bowler who only took up the sport this year, having moved into Middleton Woods in 2009.  The blend of experience (Mrs Perry is a former county bowler) and new found confidence won the day!

Following the tournament, the competitors relaxed with a chef’s buffet served in the restaurant and some well earned glasses of wine.
