You need to want to work with older people and value each person’s uniqueness and be able to motivate and encourage residents to maintain their independence and life skills, you will also need to be trustworthy, reliable, flexible and committed to providing a quality service.
The ability to be able to think on your feet and use your own initiative is essential as well as being able to support other people in the team at the same time. There will be lots of rehabilitation with residential residents as you will want to give someone the optimum chance of living well and achieving their goals. This role is not just physically demanding but also emotionally demanding due to the nature of the care we provide, it will also help for you to be a team player with a sense of humour who is willing to learn.
The role is varied but the main focus is to ensure that every resident receives the necessary support and care detailed in their individual well-being plan. This will include support with dressing, mobility and living well, promoting independence or generally living life to the full. You will have a passion in delivering the highest level of care for those residents nearing the end of their life whilst also supporting their families, which can also be demanding and emotional.
These roles are for permanent and part time positions working across a seven day period, including weekdays and weekends. Applicants must be flexible and willing to help the team by working extra shifts if required. Having a clean driving licence and able to drive a car/minibus would be an advantage but not essential.
Successful candidates will take part in a 6 day induction programme when joining the company. If you have no specific care qualifications when you join, you will be expected to study for the Care Certificate during your first three months of joining with a commitment to studying for an NVQ qualification within a year.
