MH13E – Support Worker – 33 Hours Per Week Flex Contract Permanent Position

Middleton Oaks comprises of 2 x 8 bedded households (Acorn & Catkin House) which focuses on small group living within a home environment.  There is a separate entrance to the centre through a covered winter garden. This lifestyle is particularly attractive for people who live with dementia promoting a participative and nurturing relationship in a familiar home setting, together with people looking for a family living type of environment.

You must be positive and committed to making a difference to the lives of our residents by enabling and empowering them to live well. The new households are quite independent and you will need to have a wide range of skills, those used on a daily basis within the home. i.e.  cooking, baking, arts & crafts, sewing, gardening & cleaning etc., which you will be heavily involved in.  You need to have patience and a willingness to give people your time including being able to engage with the residents and identify their strengths and weaknesses which is essential to the role.

We encourage our residents to use their life skills every day and take part in everyday activities and interests based on life history and goals for the future, including being an active part of the daily running of the household.

We would expect the successful candidate to be a good team player and be able to build good working relationships with families so that the resident remains at the centre of all decisions and include families in activities and daily life, therefore excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.  You may be required to drive residents to and from appointments, therefore a full driving license would be beneficial.

Previous experience of administering medication would be beneficial but is not essential.

Successful candidates will take part in a 6 day induction programme when joining the company.  If you have no specific care qualifications when you join, you will be expected to study for the Care Certificate during your first three months of joining with a commitment to studying for an NVQ qualification within a year, therefore a willingness to learn and develop is essential.  Working knowledge of CQC and S/S regulations would be beneficial but not essential as full training will be given.  Middleton Hall offers various training courses and programmes to be able to increase your knowledge in your role.

This role will offer a permanent 33 hour per week flex contract which will be worked on a rota basis, therefore flexibility is essential.
