A coconut shy, hook-a-duck and a tin can alley were just some of the stalls on offer at a traditional seaside fun day.

Staff  were dressed in traditional fun fair costumes for the summer event, which was for residents, staff and their families.

Activities included a plastic pig race, tombola and residents and staff could pose for a picture at the giant seaside postcard created by 19-year-old artist, Samantha Hunt of nearby Middleton St George.

Audra Hunt, the award-winning retirement village’s Living Well Manager said:

“Both young and older had a fantastic time. Games such as the coconut shy and tin can alley really brought back memories for the residents and everyone got the chance to have a go at something, no matter what their mobility levels.

“Years ago they would have taken a day trip to the seaside or a fun fair so the idea was to bring a bit of the seaside to them instead. It was so popular we’re looking to make it an annual event.”
