No wonder birds love Middleton Hall
Residents got busy with hammers and drills, making lots of new bird boxes for the next nesting season. Visiting tutor Colin Gibson came to lead us through the process. A happy hour or two was spent talking birds and admiring our handiwork.
There are currently 41 next boxes of various kinds in the grounds. These are regularly checked for inhabitants and activity, with results recorded for all to view. As of the first week in August, the nesting season is officially over. We’ll give any late movers a few more weeks then review the boxes once more and replace those that need a little attention.
The session was part of the gardening and wildlife workshop programme that has very varied educational and practical topics. Thank you Colin for all your help and advice. We look forward to seeing you again.
