Middleton Hall Supports National Nest Box Week
With hammers in hands, everyone happily put their skills to the test with some fantastic results. Over twenty bird boxes were made out of recyclable materials, raising money for Middleton Hall’s charity of the year, the Alzheimer’s Society.
Winifred Howe, Middleton Gardens resident, said “It was my first attempt at carpentry and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I gave my nest box to my daughter and she was thrilled with it.”
Nest Box week is a national event which helps protect existing wildlife and encourages new birds. Middleton Hall has over forty nest boxes situated around the vast woodland site. Residents are currently keeping a night time vigil on their Tawny Owl through the nest watch camera, delighted that she is sitting on two eggs.
Wildlife around Middleton Hall continues to be an integral part of everyday life at the Retirement village with staff and residents alike sharing a keen interest and enthusiasm for their rural surroundings.
