Concerts at Middleton Hall raise money for charity

September 2010

Over £2,300 has been raised at Middleton Hall’s concerts this year for ‘The Friends of Darlington Memorial Hospital’:

Andrew Nix – Charity Concert

The first of our summer charity concerts featured a performance from Andrew Nix who had previously accompanied Eileen Davey in a charity concert in 2009.  Andrew performed a programme of songs from the shows on his Atelier Orchestra organ.

The 80 strong audience also heard a guest appearance from Middleton Hall’s very own Eileen Davey, a talented singer with a long track record of performance.

Tony Stace – “Flying Hands and Flying Feet”

The second of Middleton Hall’s concerts was held in August.

Tony Stace provided an afternoon of musical magic and humour to a packed audience in the restaurant, in a programme called “Flying Hands and Flying Feet”.  This turned out to be a reference to Tony’s fast moving organ playing rather than a Harry Potter inspired game of extreme magic!

It is rare for a charity concert to take place without some involvement of Eileen Davy and the afternoon did indeed feature a guest appearance from Eileen, a talented singer who lives in Middleton Woods.

During the intervals of both concerts a raffle was drawn with a large variety of prizes, generously donated by local businesses, residents and visitors to Middleton Hall.

Thanks to all those who attended and gave money so generously and to Eileen and Cliff Davey for their inspiration and determination.
