Skills for Care Accolades Awards – Finalist 2017
Middleton Hall was announced as a finalist in the category of Best Employer of Between 51 and 249 staff in the 2017 Accolades Awards.
This award recognises employers that invest and are innovative in developing the skills and knowledge of their workforce to offer high quality, person centred social care.
Tees Valley Food Hygiene Award – 5 Stars

Living Wage Champion Award – Shortlisted 2016
Having become a Living Wage Employer in November 2015, Middleton Hall was pleased to be shortlisted for a Living Wage Champion Award in 2016.
These awards celebrate those organisations that make a real difference by supporting the Living Wage movement.
Northumbria in Bloom 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016
The Northumbria in Bloom Gold Award has been presented to Middleton Hall for seven consecutive years for “Best Kept Grounds of a Care, Residential or Convalescent Home”
Silver Trophy National Green Apple Awards 2016 (Built Environment and Architectural Heritage category)
The Waterside at Middleton Hall, in conjunction with architects BSBA was awarded silver trophy by The Green Organisation – an independent group which recognises, rewards and promotes environmental best practice around the world.
BRICKS Award Winner 2015
Middleton Hall Developments Ltd was delighted to win the BRICKS award for The Development of the Year (11-50 units, North) for The Waterside. The prestigious BRICKS awards, announced by the LABC, “reward exceptional sites and site management”.
Finalist – Best Care Community Category 2015
Middleton Hall Retirement Village was proud to be announced as one of three finalists in the ‘Best Care Community Award Category’, in the National Pinders Healthcare Design Awards 2015.
A cheque for £500 was awarded, which Middleton Hall donated to its chosen charity The Alzheimer’s Society. Jeremy Walford, managing director, said ‘The Pinders Awards are one of the biggest events of the year for the care industry so we were delighted to make it to the final and also to be able to support the Alzheimer’s Society’.
Investors in People Gold Award 2014
Middleton Hall Retirement Village has once more been reaccredited as achieving the highest level of Investors in People (IIP) in 2014. This prestigious award puts Middleton Hall in the top 200 IIP accredited companies in the UK.
Clean British Energy Award
Pioneering campaigners for a greener planet, Friends of the Earth presented Middleton Hall Retirement Village with a CBE (Clean British Energy) Award in 2014. This coveted title is presented to a Company who has implemented initiatives that make a positive impact on the environment.
Matthew Snedker said: “This country needs homes that are affordable to heat and light. To find a company that truly values energy efficiency and the need to cut carbon pollution is an inspiration.”
Finalist – North East Business Awards – ‘Low Carbon, Corporate Responsibility & Environment’ Award
Middleton Hall Retirement Village was shortlisted for the ‘Low Carbon, Corporate Responsibility & Environment’ Award at the North East Business Awards 2014. Middleton Hall was one of three finalists at the annual event which aims to highlight the inspiring work of businesses both small and large throughout the past 12 months.
Best of Darlington – ‘Contribution to the Environment’ Award Winners
Middleton Hall Retirement Village was announced the overall winner in the Best of Darlington 2014 Award Category, Contribution to the Environment. Nominated by Councillor Doris Jones, Middleton Hall was one of three finalists in this category and nominated for its vision and company philosophy to respect the environment and reduce its carbon footprint.
Jeremy Walford commented “I am delighted to collect this Award as it recognises Middleton Hall’s visions and efforts to develop an environmentally responsible and sustainable organisation and community.”
Finalist – Best Independent Living Category
Middleton Hall Retirement Village was commended in the national Pinders Healthcare Design Awards 2013 for its Middleton Woods apartments. Middleton Hall Retirement Village was one of three finalists in the ‘Regeneration – Independent Living’ category and received praise for the ‘conversion and extension of a care home to create a village community offering apartments, family-living and nursing care, plus a spa, cafe, shop, bar and bowling green.”

Better Health At Work Gold Award
After having received bonze and silver awards in previous years, Middleton Hall Retirement Village was awarded Gold for the hard work and emphasis placed on better health for all members of staff.
‘Better Health at Work’ is a regional scheme which for employers shows that they care about the health of their workforce and for employees it is about they can easily access support and healthcare information.
In County Durham and Darlington, the scheme is delivered by the Health Improvement Service at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.
