Middleton Hall adds CBE to ‘Clean’ Sweep of Awards

CBE Award Pioneering campaigners for a greener planet, Friends of the Earth presented Middleton Hall Retirement Village with a CBE (Clean British Energy) Award. This coveted title is presented to a Company who has implemented initiatives that make a positive impact on the environment.

The Award was presented to Jeremy Walford by Kendra Ullyart & Mathew Snedker Chair and Vice Chair respectively of Friends of the Earth in an evening reception on Thursday 24th July where residents, staff and guests delighted in some delicious canapés and a fine English sparkling wine.

CBE AwardIt was a wonderful evening of celebration which saw the Friends of the Earth enjoy a tour of The Waterside as their children had fun pond dipping and working through Middleton Hall’s Woodland Walk activity packs. There was much laughter and applause as Jeremy was presented with a giant medal to symbolise the award. Matthew Snedker said: “This country needs homes that are affordable to heat and light. To find a company that truly values energy efficiency and the need to cut carbon pollution is an inspiration.” Jeremy went on to present beautiful flower arrangements hand-picked from our Gardens to Kendra Ullyart and Councillor Doris Jones as a thank you.

Jeremy said: “I am delighted to accept the Clean British Energy Award from the Friends of the Earth as it clearly recognises Middleton Hall’s vision and efforts to develop a sustainable and environmentally conscious company and community. Today we have launched our Phase 2 of our Waterside development, the UK’s first zero carbon retirement development so feel it is particularly fitting to receive the award. At the heart of our company’s philosophy is the need to respect the environment and reduce its carbon footprint. Our environmentally conscious staff and residents are happy in the knowledge they are making a difference to the environment and making Middleton Hall a better place to live and work.”
