People who live here sometimes comment about not having time to do everything they want!
As well as themed restaurant evenings, events that happen from week to week, month to month include:
The Waterside and Middleton Woods have their own coffee morning each month and once a month there is a themed coffee morning that all are welcome to come along to. Staff take it in turns to host mornings such as Around the World in 80 Days, and A Venetian Carnival.
The Kitchen team likes the challenge of designing delicious cakes and biscuits and the results are much enjoyed!
Educational and Interest Talks and Workshops
Middleton Hall staff, or sometimes residents themselves organise talks of interest by external speakers. Examples of these are historical topics and craft skills. There is always something to learn about and we seek ideas and suggestions from residents.
Musical tastes of all kinds are attended to. We love that these occasions draw people from all areas of Middleton Hall to enjoy the music together.
Life is about having a good time and we will celebrate anything … the Queen’s 90th Birthday, the Rio Olympics, Halloween, Shrove Tuesday …! We have the facilities and the energy to have a bit of a ‘do’ whenever the excuse arises.
We have a reputation for hosting great annual events. Highlights are:
Every year, residents invite friends and family to a day that is truly FUN. Recent years have seen a Wizard of Oz, an Alice in Wonderland, a Wild West and a Carnival theme – with staff and some residents in costumes, and with food, décor and music to match.
Summer and Christmas Parties
Middleton Grove, Middleton Court, Middleton Gardens and Middleton Oaks all have a Summer and a Christmas party, to which they can invite guests.
Annual Air Show Display Viewing
Neighbouring Durham Tees Valley Airport hosts the Skylive Air Show each year – and for the flying displays we have the best of views! In typical Middleton Hall style, we make the most of this opportunity and make it an occasion for socialising and BBQ-ing.
National Care Home Open Day
Like care homes across the UK, Middleton Hall opens its doors to all those who are interested to see for themselves what kinds of lifestyle we can offer. We interpret the given national theme in a unique way, with celebrations that residents enjoy. In 2017 the theme was ‘Friendship’ and residents came together for a Big Picnic Lunch, with card making sessions and ‘Smile’ related fun.
Every year the competitive urges resurface as residents of The Waterside, Middleton Woods and Middleton Grove challenge each other to rounds of putting, pitch and putt, bowling and boules. At a later date, their combined team takes on staff members (and usually win!).
Every year, Middleton Hall buzzes with a special atmosphere as we kick off the Christmas season. Residents and people from the surrounding area flock to buy unique Christmas gifts and partake in a mince pie (or a mulled wine!).
