Achord is a small group of singers who met while they were all studying music with the late Betty Middleton MBE.  Their name comes from the music you will hear opening this performance.

Achord’s three singers are:

Mary Harding (Soprano) sings in concerts throughout the area and beyond.  She remembers well the invitation she received to sing on the pitch at Middlesborough Football Club’s Riverside Stadium.  She is also a member of The Renaissance Ladies Choir in Saltburn.

Sheila Atherton (Contralto) enjoys a wide range of musical experiences within the field of light entertainment – she sings to entertain and hopes you will enjoy the afternoon’s performance.

Tom Whitfield (Tenor) has competed at many music festivals, here in the North East and down in Yorkshire, being active on the oratorio scene.  He is now mainly giving concert performances rather than competing.  Tom also sings with his local church choir.

Achord are accompanied by:

Margaret Reed (Piano) has played for The Middleton Singers and The Middleton Festival Choir for the last 35 years and is still heavily involved with them.  She also enjoys music arranging.
